The classes take place in a very relaxed atmosphere. The accent is put on having fun dancing salsa. Since Ahinama is an a.s.b.l., our primary goal is not to make money, but to share our passion. To keep things running, we ask an inscription fee of 30 Euros per class cycle.

In our classes we dance Cuban Style Salsa, or how the Cubans call it themselves, Casino. Casino comes "de la calle", from the street, and is much more based on improvisation than north-american salsa styles, most popular in Europe. Another difference is that in Casino partners dance closer to each other, developping more like a "paseo", giving rise to circular movements with slower turns. There is no "line" to be followed as in the other salsa styles, in Casino, couples often turn while dancing. The stepping is also much less constrained, it does not always have to be the rocking step or a shine. The timing is the same in all the salsa styles, and casino is both danced "on one" (tiempo, as LA-style) and "on two" (contra-tiempo, coming from Cuban Son and also danced in NY-style).

Most of the time we dance "ruedas". Rueda de Casino is a very diverting way to dance Casino. Dancers form a round ("rueda" is spanish for wheel), and move synchronously on the commando of the "cantantes". The moves involve partner-changes and can give rise to beautiful and complex choreographies, but again the accent is put on having fun while interacting not only with your partner but with the whole Rueda.
