What is Ahinama?

AHINAMA [a'inama] adj (short for Ahí nada más) 1 An exclamation heard throughout the latin world and especially in cuban music. Literally translated, means 'Just there' or 'That and no more'. Is called out by musicians to express their enthusiasm on a particularly well-done part. 2 Association in Luxembourg dedicated to latin music and dance.

Ahinama.lu, is an associaction (a.s.b.l.), dedicated to Cuban music and dance, especially to Cuban Style Salsa (Casino) and Rueda de Casino. We grouped together in 2004, and the association was officially founded in April 2006. Up to now our activities are the following:

Propose weekly classes in Cuban Style Salsa (Casino) and Rueda de Casino.
Organise workshops with renowned specialists in different dance styles. These last 2 years we have invited Aniurka and Antoine, Alberto Gonzalez, Joycee and Noydee, Choco and Vaini, for almost 100 hours of workshops.
Organise concerts and parties. Ahinama organises a concert every last Friday of the month, and from time to time invites artists de "Primera Plana" as la Reve July 11th 2009
Organise trips to dance and music events in the neighbouring cities.

The salsa classes take place wednesdays and thursdays in Luxembourg.

Ahinama's weekly salsa classes are free of charge, only the subscription to the association (50 Euros/year) is required.

The classes are organized in cycles of 20.
The current cycle started beginning of February 2009. During summer holidays there will be no regular classes, we will meet to dance though. The next cycle will start middle of September 2009. More info soon.
